Nick Morley is an artist and illustrator with an eye for the absurd. His idiosyncratic and humourous take on the human
condition finds a voice through drawings, prints, books
and paintings.

The major themes running through Nick’s work
are masculinity, heroism, human achievement and man’s
efforts to leave his mark on the world. Subjects include
hunters, wrestlers and bearded men.

For the E17 Art Trail Nick will open up his studio and working practice to the public for the first time.  This will be a unique opportunity to see the artist at work and to buy at first hand from a selection of drawings, prints, books, paintings and cards as well as a few rare bargains.

Nick has exhibited widely across the UK and abroad. His
work has been featured in a BBC2 documentary about
the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in which it was
picked out as a favourite by comedian Vic Reeves. As an illustrator Nick's work has featured in The Times and he has designed book covers for Penguin and Faber & Faber.

I was a cheeky and very mischievous young boy

with a cute dimple smile. I dreamt of being an astronaut,

having my own robot, built spaceships out of lego

with my friends. I liked to go for adventures on long

summer days, climb trees, skim stones, play army,

ride fast down country lanes.

As a boy like many other boys the circus

intrigued me. Would I be a scary clown and juggle

bright balls, walk the tightrope, ride a great white

performing horse. Or would I have a special talent,

something unusual, something altogether brilliant

which would most certainly draw a crowd.
