A London Tale
2006
An unique etching monoprint of medival London. An antelope and a lion dancing in the claustrophobic town centre, with the puppeteer pulling the strings.

Drakenfrou
2007-2010
This is a drypoint that I did as tribute to my trip to Rehna Klosterfest, in North Germany.
A beautiful little town filled with medieval houses and the beautiful church and monastery...an artist's dream.
Editioned by Julia Rodriguez 2010
My father told tales about 'hoojars' and 'magwupuses'. These miniprints were done for an exhibition (LOOP) in Canary Wharf.

My daughter Isabella reminded me of being a child, and the fun that can be had with story-telling, especially those tales straight from our imaginations...these are tributes to her imagination.
there are five plates for these little linos.

Guardian Angel
2006
This is one of the first pieces that I completed here in England that I was truly happy with, and was done  when my Isabella was very young.
It is the start of my very colourful, multi-layered works.
Drawing is the start of everything that I do, and one of the wonderful things about screenprinting is that you can translate the freshness of a drawing staight into print just as if you had just finished scratching away with a piece of charcoal.
I often oil up my charcoal drawings - loosing the original but keeping the freshness of the drawing in the print.

The Moon Weeps No 1.
2008-2010
This work was created for a Friends of the Earth exhibition held in Walthamstow in 2008. I have carried on working on the individual screenprints making a series of 7 pieces that are all different.

2008-2010
Like No 1. this is a continuation of the series. By chance the effect of this piece in contrast to the first one looks like day vs night.

2004 Linocut
2010 Screenprint
This is a life-size linocut that I did while completing my MA at Camberwell.
I can remember having long framed 'brass rubbings' throughout our home in South Africa - results of my mother's trips through Europe. They were all beautifully framed and really long-and always paired.
Like Guardian Angel, this piece is about protection and the strength women.

  Bagged by Giant
Linocut - hand coloured
£35 unframed
£60 framed (conservation mount)

Little series of linocuts telling the story of the trickster Kintu, who was supposed to look after Somanga's (the Sun) cattle but fell asleep and was then bagged by a giant!
